August Terralert announced the creation of a new internet based
alerting service for missing children. This
service
is provided free for all users. The purpose is to
provide immediate notifications of missing
children to schools, hospitals, businesses and
residents.
Terralert has
completed the integration of over 2,000
local, state and federal agencies. Integration has
also been completed with services such as Microsoft's Passport, Hotmail and MSN instant
messaging users. Integration has already begun
with many other law
enforcement agencies. Activation of law
enforcement agencies will begin as training is
completed.
It is Terralert’s
goal to assist law enforcement in the distribution
by providing this information to a wider audience.
The Terralert solution will link any personal
computer, cell phone or handheld to the National
Missing Children Alert Service. People will be
sent alert fliers for those missing in their area
within minutes of the abduction. Because of
Terralert's unique network architecture,
participants are guaranteed not to receive
unwanted messages or spam.
